:
The Equity & Inclusion Development Specialist brings deep expertise in equity, inclusion, social justice, health equity, and human rights. This role plays a critical part in fostering a culture of respect and belonging at RVH by designing, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that advance equity and inclusion while enhancing organizational effectiveness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of systems change, adult learning principles, and inclusive leadership development, and will be a strategic partner in embedding equity into the fabric of RVH's culture and operations.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Advance Equity and Inclusion Plan Champion the implementation of RVH's People, Equity, and Inclusion Plan in alignment with the organization's overarching strategic plan
Integrate Equity into Organizational Practices Support the embedment of equity, inclusion, and anti-oppression principles into policies, procedures, and decision-making frameworks across the organization
Design and Deliver Learning Experiences Develop, facilitate, and evaluate learning and development opportunities that build capacity for inclusive leadership and culturally responsive care
Provide Coaching and Capacity Building Offer coaching and consultation to individuals and teams on inclusive practices, conflict resolution, and navigating complex interpersonal dynamics
Partner with People team colleagues to conduct equity-centered assessments Include needs analyses and evaluate team and organizational dynamics to identify equity-related factors affecting morale, collaboration, patient/community care, and workforce well-being
Foster Inclusive Culture and Systemic Change Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive innovation, dismantle systemic barriers, and promote inclusive, equitable practices at all levels
Support Conflict Navigation and Psychological Safety Provide strategic guidance and coaching for navigating difficult conversations, managing conflict, and addressing issues that impact psychological safety and team cohesion
Support Team RVH in policy and procedure development and review Apply an equity lens to identify and address systemic barriers. Collaborate with teams to revise or develop policies that promote fairness, accessibility, and alignment with equity and inclusion principles
Community Partnerships Build and sustain meaningful relationships with community organizations, advocacy groups, and equity-focused networks to inform internal strategies and amplify community voices in organizational development
Legislative Compliance Monitor and interpret relevant equity, diversity, and inclusion legislation and human rights codes. Ensure organizational practices and policies align with legal requirements and reflect best practices in equity and inclusion

We're looking for someone who has the following qualifications:
Education:
Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field such as Social Justice, Human Rights, Human Resources, Social Sciences & Humanities, Health & Community Studies, Education & Organizational Development, or a related discipline
Formal Training or Certification in Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism, or Social Justice (e.g., Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP(TM)) - CCDI or equivalent)
Proven ability to apply practical frameworks that enhance team member experience and foster an inclusive, psychologically safe workplace. This includes supporting a diverse workforce in delivering culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and equitable care to patients and communities
Commitment to Continuous Learning, with a strong focus on professional development in equity, inclusion, and organizational change
Experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in organizational development, strategic planning, learning and/or change management
Proven track record of leading and supporting transformational change initiatives in complex systems
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing workplans, frameworks and training programs
Skilled in facilitating workshops and learning sessions with diverse audiences
Experience coaching leaders and teams
Competencies:
Strong people leadership capabilities with effective change management experience and demonstrated ability to lead and influence cultural and organizational transformation
Solid track record of establishing credibility and building relationships at all levels and providing proactive and responsive solutions
A track record of driving positive experiences for people through programs, services, and advisory functions
Demonstrated ability to be a mentor, advisor, advocate and change agent
Comprehensive knowledge of current Equity & Inclusion issues in the healthcare or public sector context including systemic barriers to inclusion
Exceptional facilitation, conflict resolution and supportive listening skills
Skills to analyze and synthesize policy, interpret legislation and complex reports, and develop recommendations for a wide range of initiatives
Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including: the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and other relevant legislation
Excellent organizational, collaboration and communication skills
Report and proposal writing, contract negotiation, problem-solving skills, and computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite
