Equipment Technician (Hydraulic & Mechanical)



IT International Telecom Inc. is a privately owned subsea network integrator that designs, installs, and maintains subsea telecommunications cable systems. Reporting to the Shop Foreman, IT is seeking a skilled Equipment Technician to join our Halifax operations team to support marine operations with strong hydraulic & mechanical expertise to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range equipment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment by performing preventive maintenance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:



Ensure the ongoing working condition of all machinery and equipment Perform all scheduled preventative maintenance. Supporting the testing and troubleshooting of high-pressure hydraulic assemblies and identifying faults during operation. Support operational readiness by performing pre-deployment checks and routine maintenance. Mobilize equipment on vessels based on the project requirements Maintain required company maintenance documentation such as daily operating logs, end of project summaries, equipment defect reports and consumable reports. Advise Shop Foreman of the operational readiness of all cable equipment

Required Competencies:



Technical diploma or trade certification in Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance, or related field Strong understanding of hydraulic principles (pressure, flow, load sensing, proportional systems) Experience servicing pumps, motors, valves, and hydraulic power units Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and mechanical schematics Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude Experience using precision measurement tools (micrometers, dial indicators, torque tools). Familiarity with high-pressure hydraulic tools, assemblies, and subsea applications is highly desirable.Ability to work independently and in a team environment Forklift license, rigging training and first aid training are all considered assets Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with business units, corporate departments, key managers, and other stakeholders.
