Our Opportunity



We are looking for a motivated, team player who takes pride in making Middleton better every day. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the candidate should enjoy performing a variety of tasks and possess the physical capabilities to perform moderate to heavy manual labour. The individual should work well in a team environment, be able to operate heavy equipment as necessary and be willing/available for overtime/on-call duty as required.

Key Responsibilities



Construct, maintain, and repair water and sewer lines, mains, and related infrastructure Perform maintenance on lift stations, treatment plants, hydrants, catch basins, and manholes Install, repair, and read water meters; conduct flushing and cleaning programs Participate in municipal construction projects, including streets, sidewalks, paving, and patching Operate equipment and assist with general construction, signage, and flagging duties Support capital works projects and small-scale engineering or site improvements Operate and maintain heavy equipment, vehicles, and tools Perform snow removal, street sweeping, line painting, landscaping, and grounds maintenance Assist with garbage collection, composting, and public space upkeep Other duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works
Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma/GED and/or combination of education and experience Valid Class 5 driver's license Willingness to acquire Class 3 driver's license with air brakes Good physical condition (i.e., physically capable of completing assigned tasks and responsibilities)

Successful Candidate should:



Have experience operating heavy equipment and performing construction, repairs, and maintenance to local infrastructure such as water, wastewater and storm water pipe, and asphalt Have the experience or ability to perform general maintenance and repairs to water hydrants, water meters, and general equipment Provide effective service delivery to all stakeholders by responding to complaints and inquiries in a professional, knowledgeable, and timely manner
