Equipment Operator

, you will be at the heart of our facility's operational efficiency and material recovery, in a fast-paced and physically active role.

Responsibilities:



Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment, including excavators and wheel loaders, within the transfer station and recycling yard. Load roll-off containers and trailers with construction waste and other designated materials. Sort various materials (e.g., wood, metal, concrete) from incoming construction and demolition waste loads, utilizing both heavy equipment and manual sorting techniques. Conduct thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of assigned heavy equipment, promptly reporting any maintenance or repair issues. Collaborate with dispatch, drivers, and fellow team members to optimize material flow and ensure efficient and timely processing. Adhere to all safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and company policies. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the facility. Perform manual labor as required, which may include hand-sorting materials, site cleanup, and assisting with other general yard duties. Maintain accurate records of processed materials, equipment logs, and other operational data as required.

Requirements:



Proven experience in operating heavy equipment, specifically excavators and wheel loaders. Strong understanding of safe operating practices for heavy machinery. Ability to identify and differentiate various construction and recyclable materials. Adequate physical fitness to manage the job's demands, including operating machinery for extended periods, performing manual sorting, and working in various weather conditions. Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team. A strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Experience in a waste management facility, transfer station, or recycling yard is a significant advantage. Flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of tasks as needed.

Experience:



Equipment Operation (Excavator, Wheel Loader): 1 year (preferred) Waste Management or Recycling Industry: Experience an asset
