Note:

Position Description

purpose
Working under the direction of the Grounds Foreman, the purpose of this position is to operate light trucks and light mobile equipment to perform a variety of landscape maintenance tasks, snow removal and sand/salt icy conditions.
accountability
The position is accountable for performing all duties in accordance with CBE and legislative safety practices and procedures to ensure own safety as well as the safety of CBE staff and students.
major responsibilities
Operates mobile equipment, such as rubber-tired tractors, front mount mowers/ rotary brooms, and light trucks (up to and including one ton capacity) to provide the turf maintenance operations of mowing, aerating, over seeding, fertilizing, topdressing, weed control and sweeping. Operates equipment for snow plowing, sanding/salting and anti-ice control. Selects and changes attachments as necessary.
Performs daily serviceability inspections on the unit and equipment assigned and performs normal operator's maintenance tasks.
Assists the Grounds Repairman with labor as required on a temporary basis.
Ensures that work is performed in compliance with the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and CBE policies and procedures.
Conducts self in an appropriate manner while carrying out duties in a student environment and working with school staff.
Ensures there is minimal impact on the learning environment by scheduling the work to suit the customer/school.
Performs other duties such as fence repair, catch basin cleanouts, sweeping of turf, parking lots and compounds.
May assume the duties of Foremen when required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
qualifications
Education and Experience
Valid Alberta Operators Class 5 driver's license
High School Diploma and previous experience preferred
Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
