THE OPPORTUNITY AWAITS YOU

Be a part action in helping to create the magic of events and entertainment for the community! This includes event set up and tear down in addition to daily grounds maintenance to bring everything to life. We are looking for individuals to join our team on a casual basis to help us provide amazing entertainment as our business ebbs and flows. Casual staff can be scheduled a combination of days evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the business. This is a great opportunity to earn same extra cash flow where you dictate your own availability.

Reporting to the Manager, Grounds and Conversions, the Operator is responsible for working both indoors and outdoors throughout the grounds and various facilities. Responsibilities include operating various machinery and equipment (i.e. Forklift, front end loader, unit-loader, dump truck, skid steer, scissor lift, street sweeper, ride on sweeper/scrubber) to move materials around various locations on grounds safely and efficiently. In addition to operating equipment, this position assist with any additional labour needed to complete assigned duties.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
  • Assist with general labourer duties including but not limited to moving, setting-up and tearing down of equipment for various events, as directed by the lead/supervisor.
  • Presenting services in a professional, respectful and positive manner at all times when interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Performing other duties as allocated.
Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License must be held and maintained for this position.
  • Previous experience operating equipment - a valid certification is an asset!
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations including those related to equipment operation.
  • Ability to perform physically strenuous work in various indoor and outdoor conditions including lifting, pushing, carrying, and pulling 50-70 lbs.
  • Ability to take and follow direction in both a team and independent environment.
  • Ability to work at sustained pace and produce quality work.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change. * Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.
  • Ability to maintain a respectable public image and conduct to provide excellent customer service.
  • Safety conscious attitude and effective listening and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for the duration of employment.
  • Note that this position is an in-scope position under the RWDSU Collective Agreement. Shift start & stop times and scheduled days may be adjusted during course of employment, based on operational requirements.
