Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

We are interested in receiving resumes for Site Logistics Coordinator. This is a site project term position on a 2 week in 2 week out rotation, with 12 hour long shifts. The site is accessed via air from designated pick-up points in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Key Responsibilities * Reporting to the Site Manager, this position will serve as the champion to ensure that materials delivered by vessel to Voisey\'s Bay are removed and transported from the Voisey\'s Bay dock to its intended customers expeditiously to ensure that:

  • The dock is cleared to avoid clashes with subsequent vessels
  • Customer\'s (Voisey\'s Bay Mine Expansion (VBME) and Contractor\'s) materials are provided in a timely fashion to support the construction schedule
  • Damage is minimized
  • Ensure responsibility for transport from Voisey\'s Bay Dock to laydown is clearly established between VBME Material Handling and Contractors
  • Establish transport plans from Voisey\'s Bay dock to destination for materials in VBME transport scope prior to vessel arrival, taking into consideration all resources required (people, transport and lifting equipment, rigging etc.)
  • Coordinate between Warehouse personnel and Material Handling Dept. to transport materials after dock piece count is completed
  • Identify and prepare laydown areas for all \xe2\x80\x9ccustomers\xe2\x80\x9d materials including VBME and Contractors and take ownership of the Site Laydown Plan. This will require:
  • land surveys and assessment of useable ground
  • coordination of \xe2\x80\x9casset\xe2\x80\x9d removal with VB-Operations and back loading activities with VBME Logistics Dept.
  • coordinating physical removal of \xe2\x80\x9cassets\xe2\x80\x9d and transport
  • coordination of resources to perform surface preparation activities of laydown areas
  • ongoing maintenance of laydown areas as required
  • establishing restricted access to laydowns where required to ensure material control and security
  • establish lay down areas near the construction areas in coordination with the Construction team, taking into consideration the fluid nature of the Construction Site and its constantly changing landscape
  • point of contact to liaise with \xe2\x80\x9ccustomers\xe2\x80\x9d to identify what their laydown needs are and when needed. Plan for their arrival and assign space accordingly.
  • communicate with Contractors and Construction team to determine where materials should be placed to minimize material handling, maximum utilization of available space and avoid clashes between all users
  • Management of transfer of care custody and control (TCCC) of all contractor\'s materials.
  • Expedite movement of Contractors materials at Voisey\'s Bay Dock to ensure the dock is cleared in a timely fashion. Ensure Contractors are fully aware of their material handling responsibilities and have a plan, resources and equipment to execute movement
  • Management of Sea Containers and expediting their return to the Port of Quebec
  • Management of the Site Back Haul procedure
  • Planning and Coordination of Site demobilization activities
Qualifications and Experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate respectfully and professionally
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • 5-10 years\' experience in Construction Site Logistics; with detailed knowledge of material handling equipment and material movement planning
  • Experiencing in Site Layout Planning
  • Knowledge and experience of ocean freight logistics, packaging and cargo handling
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Soft Office, CAD skills would be considered an asset)
  • Ability to work equally well in the field as well as in the office environment
  • Post-secondary education in a technical, engineering or project management discipline
  • Ability to work regularly scheduled rotations to Voisey\'s Bay Site, Labrador with occasional requirements for over time
