Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and maintain groundwater treatment systems for dewatering and remediation projects.
Set up and calibrate
chemical dosing systems
, including
coagulants, flocculants, pH adjusters, and oxidizing agents
.
Operate and maintain
filtration systems
, including:
Activated carbon units, Multimedia filters, Manganese treatment units
,
Sand separators
Collect, analyze, and interpret water quality data to ensure treatment goals and regulatory discharge standards are met.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with
pumps, flow meters, dosing equipment, and process control systems
.
Maintain accurate logs of treatment system performance, water quality results, chemical usage, and maintenance activities.
Assist with installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of treatment systems on project sites.
Coordinate with engineers and project managers to optimize treatment processes and ensure compliance with environmental permits and ECA (Environmental Compliance Approval) requirements.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum
3 years of hands-on experience
in water/wastewater treatment projects.
Strong knowledge of
physical and chemical water treatment processes
such as, but not limited to:
Coagulation and flocculation
Activated carbon adsorption
Iron and manganese removal
pH adjustment and chemical dosing
Experience with
automated and manual dosing systems
and familiarity with
water quality monitoring instruments
.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and operation manuals.
Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Valid Ontario driver's license with a clean drivers abstract.
Ontario MOECC (MECP) Water Treatment Operator Certification or equivalent.
Confined space entry training and working-at-heights certification.
Familiarity with remote monitoring systems.
Experience working on construction or remediation sites.
