Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Environmental Services Technologist is a part of a dynamic team of professionals and is responsible for project management of Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment and Landfill projects as well as review and provides input on development applications in relation to water distribution, wastewater collection and storm collection systems. The Environmental Services Technologist will be expected to prepare Request for Proposals, capital project cost estimates, calculations, develop detailed design drawings, comprehensive tender contract documents, contract administration inclusive of site meetings, preparation of payment certificates, liaise and manage consultants, contractors and stake holders from inception to completion of capital and operational projects. The Technologist will also be responsible for reviewing the design of water infrastructure, including wastewater and storm infrastructure for various development applications from the point of view of operation and maintenance of the infrastructure ranging from individual buildings to multi-million dollar sub-divisions. Other responsibilities include review of applications for telecommunications equipment to be installed on Environmental Services facilities, communication and coordination, reporting and preparation of applications for approval authorities, external agencies and internal departments, and other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Successful completion of a three (3) year community college diploma in Civil, Construction, Environmental Engineering Technology or equivalent education
A minimum of three (3) years of previous experience in design and project management of vertical and/or linear municipal infrastructure
Membership in OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) is required
Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset
Proficient in project management technology with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Project and the Office Suite of software
Knowledge of municipal water and wastewater plant, pumping stations, reservoirs and linear system operations including pertinent legislation, policies, and bylaws within federal, provincial and municipal government
Strong knowledge with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), American Water Works Association (AWWA), American Standard and Testing Materials (ASTM), local and provincial legislation, policies and regulations
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with changing demands and priorities
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential to function effectively in a team environment and independently
Possess a valid Class G license in good standing with access to a personal vehicle
WAGE/SALARY RANGE:
$41.67 to $44.33 per hour (based on a 35 hour work week) plus benefits.
