The Environmental Services Aide is responsible for cleaning, sanitizing/disinfecting using specified agents. This includes being accountable for cleaning and maintaining patient rooms, hallways, bathrooms, offices and any other locations of the hospital by mopping/vacuuming floors, cleaning furnishings, sweeping and removing waste.
The Aide must follow instructions while adhering to all health, safety, infection prevention and control standards.
Qualifications and Experience
Successful completion of a high school diploma or recognized equivalent.
One year of experience working in a healthcare housekeeping department an asset.
Knowledge of Best Practices for Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings.
Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) including chemicals and dilution rates, safe handling and storage of chemicals and solvents.
Skills and Abilities
Ability to use Microsoft Office Outlook.
Proven ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written English instructions.
Able to meet the physical demands of the job including - standing, sweeping, pushing/pulling carts, reaching forward and above and below the shoulders, able to lift up to 15 kg.
Ability to use tools and equipment common to the work being performed including: vacuum, dry mop, auto scrubber, polisher etc.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize workloads and manage stressful work environments.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and willingness to be flexible to meet department needs.

Hours of Work:
In order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. There is the expectation that you are available to work weekdays, weekends and all shifts (days & nights).
