If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you!The Environmental Remediation Technologist is accountable to the Project Manager, to ensure that environmental fieldwork procedures and practices are executed in compliance with company and regulatory procedures. This work is carried out in four phases (site characterization, remediation assessment and planning, remediation field work, and project close-out) under the supervision of Environmental Remediation Specialists. As a member of the remediation team, the Environmental Remediation Technologist plays a key role in the planning and execution of field activities. The Environmental Remediation Technologist will ensure that their actions, documents, methods, and plans address health, safety, security environmental, and quality requirements for CRL Environmental Remediation and Decommissioning activities.What will you be doing!

  • Executing characterization and remediation activities including mock-up testing, according to approved Work Control Documents and procedures;
  • Following the Integrated Work Control Process;
  • Adhering to the CNL Safety Procedures and Policies;
  • Mentoring junior technical and support staff involved in characterization and remediation activities;
  • Completing post-remediation/characterization field close-out activities including arranging for the disposition of radioactive and/or hazardous wastes;
  • Maintaining equipment, procuring consumable supplies and coordinating the fabrication of special tools;
  • Preparation of formal documents, memos, work plans and procedures;
  • Assisting professional staff in the advance planning of field campaigns, and
  • Collecting and aiding professional staff in the interpretation of data from field activities and historical records.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:Someone who has the ability to:
  • Work with a variety of disciplines at all levels
  • Plan and co-ordinate the activities of the remediation crew, support services (trades, procurement, engineering, etc.), compliance programs and other CNL groups required to execute remediation activities
  • Plan and co-ordinate the activities of any external contractors (including sponsorship) and exchanging information with vendors/suppliers
  • Ability to wear a respirator during indoor and outdoor environmental characterization work
Experience:
  • Experience with taking and managing environmental samples (for example sediment, soil, and groundwater);
  • Training or hands-on experience using GIS systems;
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with field analytical methods;
  • Experience in a field environment with a strong emphasis on safety;
  • Previous environmental characterization and/or environmental remediation experience is an asset;
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite software;
Education:
  • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology or equivalent formal education, in a field relevant to the position and normally has two (2) to three (3) years of pertinent technological experience.
Or
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and normally has five to eight (5-8) years of pertinent and progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education, and/or training.
Security clearance eligibility required:Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.Why CNL?Does working with a team across Canada to advance nuclear science and technology for a clean and secure world speak to you?
