We have one of the most experienced environmental and geosciences engineering consulting teams in Canada and we are seeking an Environmental Project Manager to join our team. This position will be focused on mining industry projects in BC while providing support across Canada and internationally where needed. How will you contribute to the team? The Environmental Project Manager supports the full life cycle of water and environmentally based projects. The position entails the following responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and focused leadership for the entire project team to create a vision for project success and strategy to obtain that vision.
  • Set and maintain project scope, schedules and budgets; makes decisions with respect to overall technical execution of the project; liaises with technical specialists or other senior project managers to ensure the technical integrity of the project.
  • Ensure project deliverables are provided according to predetermined scope requirements, schedule, and technical quality.
  • Accountability for successful project execution, including financial targets, on time delivery, project safety, deliverable quality, and management of risks .
  • Identify, document, and communicate client requirements. Proactively resolve performance, scope, cost, schedule, HSE, and risk issues as they arise.
  • Identify and undertake suitable project change management, as required.
  • Provide technical expertise for water- and contaminated sites-based programs.
  • Monitor the field/construction management function to ensure safe delivery of site work.
  • Supervision and mentorship of junior professional staff involved in carrying out field programs, ensuring project requirements are communicated and health and safety protocols are adhered to. In addition, supporting staff annual performance reviews, objective setting, and support for direct reports to achieve set objectives.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety programs and culture, and ensure that project personnel understand HSE requirements though the project. Support the vision of no harm to people, assets, and environment.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships and receipt of ongoing work.
  • Identify, monitor, and manage project risks and opportunities.
  • Setup budget/WBS, track project financials (including actual/accrued costs, forecast/earned value, and gross margins), third party invoice management, and monitor project work in progress/invoice accounts receivables.
  • Active in business development activities and maintaining client relationships. Solicit and document feedback and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Effectively manage multiple project stakeholders.
  • Undertake procurement process to ensure goods/services meeting project requirements and manage subcontractors accordingly.
  • Participates in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
  • Participates in short and long range planning and resource management/forecasting, within assigned clients group or offices.
What will you contribute? MINIMUM EDUCATION: University Degree in a relevant field FIELD(S) OF STUDY: Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental, Environmental Assessment, Environmental Science, Forestry, Geology, Hydrogeology, Land Reclamation, Soil Science, Biology & Environmental Studies, Ecosystem Restoration, Agronomy YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 7 to 12 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to acquire professional designation within two years of employment if not currently registered. TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Experience with the interpretation and application of provincial (BC) and federal environmental regulations.
  • Experience in successfully completing water and contaminated sites based investigations and reports
  • Knowledge and ability to demonstrate commitment and application of safe work practices.
  • Familiar with managing environmental projects from $10K to $1M.
