Environmental Project Coordinator - Ndilo

Reporting to the Director, Environment the Project Coordinator is responsible for environmental monitoring programs and grant sourcing. The Environmental Project Coordinator is responsible for Environmental Project Coordination/management, Community Engagement, Mapping related duties, Reporting and Submission of financial reports to project sponsors and coordinating the response of all environmental monitoring related to mineral exploration and mining in the YKDFN's traditional territory. This is a full-time position based in the YKDFN community of Ndilo, Monday to Friday.



Duties & Responsibilities



Project Coordination




Project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & controlling and closure. Field program planning and execution. Plan community engagement, and community outreach. Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation software to prepare reports, memos, letters and other documents.

Community Engagement




Organize and facilitate community engagement to receive input into environmental monitoring activities regarding relevant projects as necessary. Support community member attendance and aid in providing content briefings to ensure meaningful engagement. Record meeting proceedings as directed by the Director of Environment, where necessary, facilitates community meetings.




Mapping




Thorough knowledge of google earth and GPS usage, retrieval of coordinates from google earth. Knowledge of Arc GIS. Knowledge of Database system such SQL, Excel and data storage system.




Reporting




Prepare project financial report for Director's review and input. Communicate with project sponsors and respond to their questions in a timely manner. Submit financial update project to YKDFN's finance department and submit financial updates to the project sponsor. Assist with the continued improvement, and implementation of YKDFN's Environmental monitoring and grant application.




Grant Applications




Knowledge of grant sourcing and writing. Work with YKDFN's staff and consultants to prepare and submit grant applications. Clearly identify and articulate reasonably foreseeable, current, and past/cumulative impacts and concerns, supported by presentable evidence.




The ideal candidate will have:




Degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field with two to five years of related experience in conducting in-depth regulatory, environmental science, and technical reviews. A sound knowledge of the principles of environmental regulations, acts, policies, and procedures Proficient in regulatory proceedings governed by the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act. Prior experience in project coordination or a similar role. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Familiarity working with a First Nations organization is considered a strong asset.
