Job Description


We are seeking an experienced Environmental Professional to join our team, focusing on projects within the upstream and midstream oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in remediation, reclamation, and upstream or midstream oil and gas, with at least 3 years of experience, preferably including leading field programs.The Environmental Professional is responsible for various environmental field programs, focusing on on-site investigation, remediation, and reclamation, with a client-centered focus to drive successful client outcomes for continued growth and success. Operating in a diverse and competitive environment, the Enviro Professional will perform work focusing on health & safety while collaborating with other functional and support teams, regional offices, and other stakeholders to provide a safe, effective, and high standard of service delivery. This position will assist Project Managers (PMs) in executing environmental project tasks across diverse practice areas, including environmental assessments, groundwater monitoring, and vegetation management. The Enviro Professional will always perform work and ensure adherence to FLINT\'s core values and exemplary ethical standards.What would you be doing?The Environmental Professional\'s responsibilities will depend on project requirements, with more experienced Environmental Professionals taking on a leadership role with larger, more complex projects and scope of work. Experienced Environmental professionals will mentor and provide additional technical support to professionals with less experience.Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and/or lead the execution of environmental field programs while mentoring other Environmental Professionals.
  • Variable field-to-office work time with field work up to 60% and 40% office work. The ratio will be season and project-dependent.
  • Collaborate with the Project Managers to execute Environmental field work.
  • Participate in environmental field programs within the site investigation, remediation, and reclamation practice areas.
  • Assist Project Managers with the execution of environmental project tasks, including developing work plans, cost estimates, data analysis, and review in various practice areas such as:
  • Site visits to investigate the current location\'s environmental status.
  • Borehole logging, soil sampling and preparing laboratory sample submissions.
  • Report writing
  • Onsite supervision of third-party contractors
  • Installation, development, monitoring (field screening), and groundwater sampling.
  • Surveying, hydraulic conductivity testing, and groundwater flow calculations
  • Complete post-reclamation weed spraying and soil and vegetation health assessment across various land uses.
  • Stage/Phase 1 and 2 Environmental Site Assessments
  • Small and large-scale remediation and reclamation projects.
  • Groundwater monitoring programs
  • Detailed site assessments and vegetation management activities in various areas across Western Canada
  • Cross-training to ensure appropriate coverage with seasonal work and various business needs.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, landowners, stakeholders, and regulators.
  • Provide detailed project management and reporting support to project managers.
  • Complete administrative duties within required timelines.
  • Other projects and assignments as required.
Does this sound like you?
  • Technical Diploma or University Degree in environmental science/engineering or related discipline.
  • Eligibility for or carry a current professional designation (i.e., Agrologist, Biologist or Engineering/Geoscience in the relevant province)
  • 3+ years\' experience in environmental consulting.
  • Experienced in leading and overseeing environmental assessment and remediation projects, including contractor supervision, sample selection for laboratory analysis, surface reclamation and vegetation management.
  • Experience with and can safely operate light-duty trucks.
  • Hold and maintain a valid class 5 driver\'s license.
  • Knowledge and application of provincial environmental regulations, policies, guidelines, or technical guidance documents.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant environmental regulations about site investigations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in planning and control of work in a multi-project, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to develop meaningful working relationships with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  • Able to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic and productive team environment.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with a solid ability to take the initiative.

  • $31.42 - $41.90/Hr. for 3 -10 years of experience; your compensation will be based on your cumulative skills, education and work experience.
