Applicants are encouraged to self-identify on their electronic application.Reporting to the Director of Environment & Climate Change and supporting Halifax Transit, this newly created position will focus on the Municipality\'s efforts to transition Halifax Transit fleet to zero-emissions vehicles and increase modal shift in alignment with HalifACT and the Integrated Mobility Plan. Halifax Transit is in the early stages of several large and complex initiatives, such as onboarding its first 60 electric buses, the Mill Cove Ferry Service project, and the Burnside Transit Centre Eco-rebuild project. In this period of rapid growth and increasing climate impacts, this position will support the transition to a more sustainable, climate-informed, and resilient transit system.This position will:Support research, funding applications, policy and project work to ensure they align with climate priorities.
Work on initiatives that demonstrate the connections between transit, modal shift, complete communities, sustainability, and climate change.
Conduct analysis, develop metrics, and support progress reporting.
Provide expertise in climate change, clean energy, and systems change as it pertains to Halifax Transit\'s priorities and initiatives.
Act as a liaison between Environment & Climate Change and Halifax Transit.
