Position Summary:

The Environmental Process Engineer is responsible for overseeing the environmental compliance of the systems across the mill. They work to implement, monitor, and evaluate all of the environmental processes around the mill. They promote sustainability and ensure our operations are observing government environmental regulations.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with mill operating permits and environmental regulations
  • Oversee the influent and effluent processes, including managing and scheduling operators, monitoring and improving performance, and managing costs
  • Assess and plan infrastructure upgrades to meet future environmental requirements
  • Complete and submit numerous regulatory reports for provincial, federal and municipal government
  • Communicate environmental aspects/risks, objectives and performance (KPI) to relevant teams and management
  • Lead in-depth analysis and actively participate in research for environmental issues
  • Participate in preventative maintenance planning for relevant process equipment
  • Manage papermaking chemicals inventories and pumping setups
  • Support Paper Machine trials and shutdowns
  • Manage all mill recycling streams and promote Zero Waste initiatives
  • Manage some emergency response plans including annual updates and training
  • Participate in various Environmental committees
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of some schooling and experience
  • 2-3 years experience is an asset
  • Passionate about sustainability and environmental initiatives
