Environmental Permitting Coordinator

Job Description


Reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Manager you will be part of the Environment and Sustainability Department. The Permitting Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating with the site operations and projects team to identify permit requirements and drafting permitting applications. They will also be responsible for engaging with regulatory agencies and other key stakeholders.

  • You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle\xe2\x80\x99s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
  • Consulting with project managers to evaluate permitting requirements, existing permit conditions and Environmental Management requirements;
  • Lead the development of regulatory permit applications;
  • Develop a permitting strategy for short and long-term projects;
  • Participate in engagement meetings and events as it relates to regulatory compliance and maintain records in relevant management software (i.e., Borealis);
  • Support reporting for active compliance permits;
  • Maintaining legal register in Environmental Management System;
  • Manage teams of consultants providing support for permit applications;
  • Keep up to date on changing Federal, Provincial, and local regulations.
Qualifications
  • Strong Knowledge of Ontario Provincial and Federal Acts and Regulations;
  • Excellent skills in project management and technical writing;
  • Minimum 4 years working in the environment and mining related field with a focus on permitting and compliance;
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to adapt to audiences with varying technical backgrounds;
  • Advanced MS Suite skills, experience with Borealis considered an asset;
  • Experience in a cross-cultural work environment is preferred;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 4/3 or 4/3, 5/2 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
