The Coffee Mine Project ("Coffee") is a proposed hard-rock gold mine. Coffee will be a premier, high-grade, open pit heap leach gold mine project, built to world class standards, located in Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Yukon Territory. Environmental Monitor


Working with the Environment Coordinator, the Environmental Monitor will assist a range of duties at the Coffee Exploration Project site including outdoor field work, environmental monitoring, data collection and data entry. This role requires the candidate to maintain high levels of safety and demonstrate environmental awareness. This is a seasonal position and is expected to run from May through to September but could vary based on operational requirements. Training will be provided for the candidate in all aspects of the position.

Responsibilities


  • Assist with environmental monitoring including, but not limited to, water quality and hydrology monitoring, archaeology fieldwork, pre-clearing bird surveys, invasive plant control work and monitoring, and wildlife monitoring.
  • Enter environmental data into databases or spreadsheets.
  • Inspections of site facilities to ensure spills are reported, the facilities are free of animal attractants, and hazardous materials are stored in compliance with site permits.
  • Assist with spill cleanup, response and reporting.
  • Participate in all required health and safety programs including daily toolbox talks and job hazard analyses.
  • Other activities as assigned by their supervisor.


Requirements


  • Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License.
  • Must be a Yukon resident
  • Be committed to safe work practices and follow company code of conduct.
  • Ability to work with staff and contractors in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Ability and interest in working outdoors in all conditions, including the ability to hike over uneven terrain while carrying a backpack.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with both oral and written skills.
  • Able to work in a camp setting on a rotational schedule.
  • Coursework or training in environmental monitoring is an asset, but not required.
  • Previous work experience at exploration, mine, construction or industrial sites is an asset, but not required.
