About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Manager to oversee environmental compliance, sustainability, and community engagement across its mining operations in Quebec. This is a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) position, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to responsible mining in one of Canada's key industrial regions. The role requires deep expertise in environmental management, Quebec regulations, and sustainable resource development.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations.
Oversee environmental impact assessments (EIA), permitting, and environmental monitoring programs.
Manage air, water, and soil quality monitoring, waste and tailings management, and biodiversity conservation.
Develop and implement rehabilitation and reclamation plans for mine sites.
Ensure adherence to Quebec's Environment Quality Act (EQA) and Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA).
Coordinate environmental audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
Engage with government agencies, Indigenous communities, and local stakeholders to ensure transparent and responsible practices.
Provide training and mentorship to site personnel on environmental compliance and best practices.
Prepare and submit environmental reports, sustainability disclosures, and performance metrics.
Qualifications & Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
Environmental Engineering
Environmental Science
Environmental Management
Ecology / Natural Resource Management
Earth & Environmental Studies or related discipline
Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental management within mining or natural resource sectors.
Strong understanding of Quebec and Canadian environmental laws, permitting processes, and ESG standards.
Proven ability to manage large-scale environmental programs at remote or FIFO mining sites.
Proficiency in ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to work cross-functionally with operations teams.
Bilingual in English and French preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
