The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator to join our client\'s team. In this position, you will report to the EHS Manager and work closely with the Operations Management team to support the Health and Safety Management System and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) initiatives at the plant level.
What You\'ll Be Doing:
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and updated regulations for compliance and implementation.
- Manage Emergency Response Programs, conduct Health & Safety orientation for new hires, and provide training when necessary.
- Collaborate with supervisors and specified employees to complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for critical jobs and tasks.
- Coordinate EHS training programs and create training materials when necessary.
- Schedule and lead JHSC meetings, maintain and test emergency evacuation plans.
- Post-secondary diploma, preferably in Health & Safety.
- 2-3 years of experience in occupational health & safety in an industrial establishment, preferably in manufacturing.
- Experience in a unionized work environment will be an asset.
- Strong ability to interpret legislation and assess EHS issues.
- Experience in WSIB claims management is required.
