Environmental Geologist

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager, the Environmental Geologist is responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of geology-related tasks that may include field assessment or investigation programs, data analysis and reporting; as well as providing expertise-based consultation to Ensero project teams and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical input to projects throughout Ensero.
• Designing subsurface characterization programs for both bedrock and overburden systems, including desktop assessment, design of drilling programs, selection of drilling technology and specification of methods for logging and testing as needed.
• Collaborating with hydrogeology discipline staff to properly design and specify monitoring, recovery, and injection wells.
• Providing both drilling contractor oversight and in-field technical support to technical drilling programs to include day-to-day leadership of work planning, directing contractors, geologic logging, and verifying/documenting well construction.
• Providing oversight to development and testing of completed wells, and support of limited aquifer testing.
• Technical communications of geologic and groundwater data including data analysis and report writing.
• Factual and interpretive reporting of field data and site conditions.
• Study design and implementation of groundwater programs to support contaminant transport assessments, groundwater impacts assessments and remedial planning.
• Integrating groundwater inputs into geochemical and water balance models.
• Support hydrogeological field programs include groundwater sampling hydraulic conductivity testing, tracer studies, pumping tests, and packer tests.
• Ability to operate and maintain specialized field testing and monitoring equipment.
• Support design for groundwater treatment systems.
• Interface with other technical experts to achieve multidisciplinary project goals.
• Monitor and promote environmental health and worker safety.
• All other related duties as required.

About You

• Undergraduate degree or post-graduate degree in Geology or an applicable Geoscience related field.
• Geo designation, or ability to obtain the professional designation within 1 year.
• 7+ years of related work experience in consulting or mining industry, with demonstrable academic or job experience in hydrogeologic data collection and analysis.
• Experience with groundwater remediation technologies is considered an asset.
• Familiarity with British Columbia and Yukon legislation relating to mine permitting, contaminated sites and groundwater resources.
• Excellent communication and technical report-writing skills.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Rockware, LogPlot or comparable geologic logging software is preferred and experience with GIS is an asset.
