Position Overview
This position will work closely with our Wastewater and Stormwater Technical Analyst and Supervisors to support data gathering, data entry, and analysis related to the City's Stormwater Management Ponds, Wastewater Pumping Stations and linear infrastructure. This position will assist in the investigation of inquiries related to the City's Annual Stormwater Charge, the City's Sewer Use Bylaw, and operational service requests from residents and various internal City stakeholders. This position also includes engagement with our citizens and support of customer service initiatives.
This position is partially funded by Canada Summer Jobs. To be eligible, youth must:

  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be over 30 years of age at the end of the employment period, provided they were 30 years of age or younger at the start of the employment period.
** International students are not eligible participants. International students include individuals who are temporarily in Canada for the purpose of studies and who are not Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons who have been granted refugee protection in Canada. Youth awaiting a refugee status decision, as well as those holding temporary visitor visas, youth visas, or work visas, are not eligible. As the objective of the Canada Summer Jobs program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student's stay in Canada does not provide a long-term connection to the labour market.
Responsibilities
  • Data entry and collection using Vaughan Maps and various online resources to compile background information, research property data, and support the resolution of inquiries as requested by our Technical Analysts and Supervisors.
  • Support customer service initiatives by contacting customers to address billing concerns and Annual Stormwater Charge questions including escalation of issues to our Supervisors and Technical Analysts.
  • Assist in the input of historical records and current data into Excel databases, GIS applications, and invoice trackers to archive historical information, evaluate projects status, and respond queries from Supervisors and Managers.
  • Review of maps and engineering drawings for service connections, watersheds, cross sections, plans, and details to support informed decision making in response to inquiries from residents and other stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Enrolled in a University or College program with a focus on Engineering Data Management, or equivalent.
  • Proficient in computer applications and various software and data management programs including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, GIS applications and online resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, consultants, contractors, government agencies, staff, Council members and others.
  • Willingness to learn various data management software programs/platforms such as InfoAsset, Amanda Software, CRM, eRIS, Microsoft Access, etc.
