Summary/Job Scope:
We are seeking a motivated Environmental Engineering Co-op Student to join our team at our cement manufacturing facility in Ontario. This role provides hands-on experience in environmental compliance, monitoring, and sustainability initiatives within a heavy industrial setting. You'll support the plant's environmental performance and contribute to projects that reduce environmental impact and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in monitoring and reporting air emissions, water usage, and waste management in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
• Support environmental sampling, data collection, and analysis for compliance and performance tracking.
• Help maintain and update environmental documentation, permits, and records.
• Participate in environmental audits and inspections.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives such as energy efficiency, alternative fuels, and carbon reduction strategies.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and health & safety teams to promote environmental awareness and best practices.
• Assist in preparing reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies.
• Ensures the safety of themselves and all colleagues through enforcing safe work practices and providing motivation and effective communication.

Qualifications:

• Enrolled in an Environmental Engineering or related undergraduate program at a recognized Canadian institution.
• Completion of 1-2 years of study preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and industrial environmental practices.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with environmental data systems is an asset.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work in a heavy industrial environment and conduct fieldwork.
• Safety-conscious with a strong attention to detail.

Note: This role is temporary for a maximum period of up to 1 year, with requirement where student must work at least 35 hours for a minimum of 12 weeks. The position is based out of Bowmanville, Ontario.
Please note that the Bowmanville site is not easily accessible via public transit. Student will need to ensure transport to and from the plant in line with agreed schedule.

Hourly Rate: $25 per hour.
