In this position of Environmental Summer Student, you will be responsible for supporting the Environmental, Permitting, and Waste and Water groups with a variety of tasks including researching and preparing memos, assisting in sample collection, data management, and data organization; developing environmental protection materials; plus, supporting the Environment team with other administrative functions to achieve the common goals of the department.
Location
The role will be based 40 hours per week in our Saskatoon, Saskatchewan office.###
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Assist in NexGen's Environmental, Permitting, and Waste and Water groups with various project tasks including researching, mapping, and preparing memos.
Support in data management, data organization, and external lab coordination.
Coordinate in sample equipment maintenance and sample shipment.
Create monitoring activity summaries for Environmental Committees.
Assist in sample collection and field work performed by external consultants or the internal NexGen team (e.g., water sampling, groundwater sampling, air quality monitoring, wildlife monitoring).
Develop environmental protection materials (e.g., value shares environmental monitoring work instructions, procedures).
Complete other administrative duties, as required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
The Environmental Summer Student will be completing post?secondary
environmental science training from a university or accredited community college (e.g., Northlands College). This training may include:Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).
Environmental Conservation and Reclamation Diploma.
Environmental Technical Diploma.
Environmental Science Certificate.
Capabilities:
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.
Basic understanding of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem interactions and their components.
Comfortable with remote travel, outdoor work, and working in remote locations.
Must be physically strong to carry monitoring equipment and samples in rough terrain.
Valid class 5 driver's license.
Preferred experience in GIS and manipulating geospatial data.
Preferred to be fluent in oral Dene and written and oral English languages
