Job description

As a part of the Environment Team, you'll play an important hands-on role in environmental sampling across the northern landscape while keeping essential records organized and accurate. You'll help prepare reports, support permit applications, and contribute to meaningful projects that make an impact. From overseeing equipment care to assisting with environmental training, you'll be a valued and trusted part of the team. Responsibilities include:
Ensures technicians follow all safety procedures appropriately
Assists in scheduling the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) activities in the environmental database, to ensure all requirements are met
Conducts environmental sampling to meet EMP requirements in accordance with both the Federal and Provincial operating license/approval requirements
Assists in applying for a permit for all drilling, land clearing, etc., projects as required; track issuance and close out of permits
Assists in maintaining comprehensive master files of all environmental data and operational records
Assists in the compilation and evaluation of data when requested, including preparation and submission of internal and regulatory reports
Assists the Environmental Supervisor with special projects as required
Assists with developing and delivering environmental training as required
Oversees equipment calibration and maintenance in the Environment Group
Assists in operating the hazardous waste lay down and waste disposal facilities
Prepares and submits reports
Assists the Environmental Supervisor in issuance, investigation, and follow-up of environmental non-conformances
Work Location & Schedule:
McClean Lake
14 day in/ 14 day out rotating schedule
Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
Must be physically fit (must be capable of sustained physical activity including: walking, climbing, and lifting)
Experience operating snow machines, boats, and all-terrain vehicles is an asset
Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Ideal qualifications

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
An Environmental Technician Diploma, relevant University education, or equivalent work experience
Several years of environmental experience in the mining field (preferably uranium) is an asset
Training in sampling techniques, equipment operation, and calibration
Must have good writing skills, as well as experience using databases, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preference will be given to qualified Residents of Saskatchewan's North (RSN). Athabasca residents will be given priority.
This position is subject to pre-employment checks including education and criminal record verification.
