Are you a skilled Unix Systems Administrator looking for an exciting opportunity to showcase your expertise in managing and optimizing Unix-based systems? Join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in maintaining the stability, security, and performance of our critical infrastructure.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Infrastructure Services (Unix), you will be responsible for monitoring the performance of the Unix system and providing third level support and troubleshooting for advanced and complex technical problems, whilst ensuring high availability of our servers and services.

Known for your advanced technical trouble shooting skills, you will participate in the planning, assessment, acquisition, design, implementation, support, performance and management of assigned central servers, storage architecture components and operating systems. You will be responsible for supporting the development, testing and production delivery of enterprise-wide, mission critical applications and services to E-Comm and its partners, whilst coordinating changes and maintenance of interfaces with external systems.

Demonstrated experience with Puppet, Ansible and/or Terraform would be beneficial.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Serve as administrator of the enterprise system, including storage arrays, physical/virtual servers and enterprise applications, recommending, implementing and enforcing best practices
  • Monitor and analyze system and storage area network performance, carrying out proactive troubleshooting, capacity planning and system tuning to meet service agreements
  • Automate tasks (using Puppet) to streamline system administration processes
  • Design, build and maintains virtualized environments as well as plan enterprise hardware and software patching services
  • Develop and recommend standards, procedures and configuration management for server and storage resources;
  • Develop and recommend data backup, archiving, recovery and business continuity strategies and procedure, implement and enforce organizational security policies
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to other technical staff engaged in the maintenance of the enterprise system
  • Comfortably provide recommendations and advice in gathering and analyzing business requirements, recommends enhancement (including automation), to existing services and systems to improve overall reliability, efficiency and availability
What you\'ll need:
  • Completion of a university degree in computer science technology or a related discipline plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Significant technical experience relevant to this position
  • Advanced knowledge of storage and virtualization technologies and standards, server and workstation operating systems, hardware platforms and configuration options and protocols and related topologies
  • Ability to monitor the performance of assigned infrastructure, troubleshoot complex problems, and implement remedial actions as required
  • Experience in recommending appropriate technology solutions and modifications for assigned systems and coordinate the installation and configuration of systems
  • Ability to develop and recommend standards, procedures and strategies related to the work
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external contacts

Security Requirements:

As a condition of employment at E-Comm, the required Police Security Clearance applicable to the position must be acquired and maintained. This is a process carried out by our law enforcement partner agencies, facilitated by E-Comm. The minimum residency in Canada to qualify for this position, as established by our law enforcement partner agencies, is five [5] years.
