Nature & Scope:
With the support of the Supervisor, School-Age Care, the incumbent will be working in a team of qualified childcare Educators to guide children in their physical, social, cognitive and emotional development, in accordance with the Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA), YMCA Playing to Learn (YP2L) curriculum and program statement. The incumbent must be adaptable, competent and comfortable working with children who range in age from birth to 12 years old.
Responsibilities:
Assisting in the planning, organization and implementation of the YMCA Child Care Program.
Adherence to the policies and procedures of the YMCA, as well as meeting or exceeding all standards required by the Ministry of Education, the YMCA of Eastern Ontario and any other third-party regulatory body.
Ensuring the safety of children in programs by providing continuous care and supervision.
Upholding the philosophy and values of the YMCA Child Care Centre and striving to improve and sustain services at the highest level of quality.
Qualifications:
Criminal Reference Check (CRC) including Vulnerable Sector Check completed not more than 120 days prior to interview, with results acceptable to the YMCA of Eastern Ontario
Experience working with children from birth to age 12
Experience with play-based pedagogy and knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
Registered Early Childhood Education diploma, Child & Youth Care diploma, or Ontario Certified Teacher required
Up-to date-immunizations
Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
