Since 1982, the Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) has provided social, recreational, and educational programs as well as nutritious food, health, and supportive services for adults 50 years of age and older in the City of Langley and the Township of Langley. LSRS is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization with 45+ staff and 175 volunteers that deliver over 40 programs, services, and events every year.
Position Overview:
The Langley Senior Resources Society is currently recruiting a full time Enhanced Housekeeper to join our Community Services team. Community Services' Better at Home program assists seniors in maintaining independence and enables them to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. The Better at Home program provides non-medical home supports including, transportation to medical appointments (local and long-distance), grocery shopping and delivery, friendly visits, light housekeeping and handyperson services to help maintain a safe and independent home environment.
Reporting to the Manager of Community Services, the enhanced housekeeper goes into a client's home every 2 weeks, spending 2 hours in the home providing housekeeping but also engaging with the client. During engagement, you will be sitting with the client having a chat or enjoying a coffee or cup of tea with them or perhaps playing cards with them. The goal is to build a strong relationship with the senior and be able to identify any changes in the senior's health or wellbeing. Through this job you will connect with seniors and build a trusting relationship with them to ensure they know they are cared for.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Must be physically fit to perform housekeeping duties
A minimum Grade 10 is required
You will have a minimum of 6 months related experience
Proven experience in housekeeping services, preferably in a senior living setting
Use of personal vehicle is required to Drive to the clients' homes and Valid Class 5 Drivers License (Mileage will be reimbursed)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform light housekeeping duties in the seniors' homes, such as dusting, vacuuming, laundry, dishes, washing floors, doing laundry, cleaning bathrooms etc., along with other duties requested and approved by the Manager of Community Services.
Engage with the client through conversation, having a tea, playing a game etc.
Must have the ability to care and treat seniors with respect and dignity
Ability to Identify and report any changes to clients physical, emotional or psychological changes to the Manager of Community Services
Must demonstrate empathy and patience while working with seniors, understanding their individual needs and preferences.
Demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and caring manner
Demonstrate good time management.
Follow appropriate dress code.
Adhere to organizational standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Be reliable and flexible in meeting work commitments
Respect that member information is confidential and adhere to the LSRS Confidentiality Agreement
Maintain effective communication with seniors and the Manager of Community Services
Conditions of Employment:
Complete satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Current First Aid and CPR
Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver's License with access to a safe, reliable vehicle

: $23.00 per hour
