Job Summary

I am looking for a dedicated tutor to help me with my British Literature and Regional Climate Geography class at TRU. The ideal candidate would be an individual with a post-secondary background in English & Geography who has expertise on the subject matter and can help me with my course work. I pay in cash and would like to meet in-person either at a coffee shop or library. Tutoring sessions would be once a week for 2 hours - preferably in downtown Vancouver. The hourly rate I pay is $20/hr.

A tutor who has experience in working with students with neurodiverse abilities would be key, as I have learning challenges.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to the individual needs of students. Help with overall comprehension of course material Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes. Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that promotes student engagement. Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding student performance and areas for improvement. Utilize various teaching techniques to accommodate different learning styles and preferences. Be attentive during sessions Be punctual Be respectful Demonstrate professionalism Not be distracted or on your phone during sessions - unless it is an emergency Be flexible with scheduling Meet in person either at a coffee shop or library for 2 hours of tutoring per week Accept cash only payment

Skills

Proficiency in English Language Strong writing skills Strong understanding of English Literature and Climate Geography Experience tutoring individuals with neurodiverse abilities Previous tutoring or teaching experience is preferred Ability to build rapport with student and create a supportive learning atmosphere. Excellent communication skills to convey concepts clearly and effectively
