1.0 FTE Temporary \xe2\x80\x93 English First Peoples 8-10, Science 8-10, Foundations of Math 10 & 11, PHE 8-12, Foods 8-12 Commencing: ASAP to June 30, 2024 or return of the incumbent, whichever comes first The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: o strong classroom management skills; o recent successful secondary experience; o academic training, qualifications and recent successful experience teaching secondary school level English First Peoples, Science, Math, Physical Education and Foods; o knowledge and understanding of the cultural values, traditions, and language of the Kwak\xe2\x80\x99wala speaking peoples \xe2\x80\x93 Indigenous ancestry preferred; o the ability and energy to work with multi-age groups and meet the needs of students with a range of learning styles and abilities using a variety of teaching strategies; o the ability to work closely with staff in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning; o strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills to communicate with students, staff, and parents in a team oriented approach to teaching and learning; o strong formative assessment practices; o experience with RTI (Response to Intervention) systems; o ability to integrate technology to enhance student learning; o strong interest in innovation and inquiry; o a desire to work in a flexible alternative learning environment; and o ability to embed local Indigenous culture and ways of knowing into teaching practices.
The starting annual salary for a full-time School Teacher position ranges from $62,493 to $109,240, with placement in the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The Remote Recruitment and Retention allowance is available for SD85 teachers payable at $2,947 over ten months.
