The Engineering Technologist Technician 3 will be part of a team responsible in providing CAD products and technical services to customers in target sectors. The successful candidate will perform draughts, investigations and searches related to Cadastral projects for the City's various clients.


Major Responsibilities:


Performs, design, draughts work and prepares and checks map data and products using Computer Assistant Design and Drawing (CADD) input information. Investigates and responds to inquiries from the public, surveyors, consultants, contractors related to construction activity on by-law interpretation, location of property lines, encroachments, digital CADD and processes. Assists on projects directed by staff. Maintains and monitors programs and systems. Prepares, reads and interpret technical drawings. Performs and/or reviews research and analyzes technical data.



Key Qualifications:


Post-secondary education in relevant discipline (Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, etc.) or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or experience.

Experience in Cadastral land surveying, including Land Registration in Ontario and The Standards of Surveys as set out by the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors.

Experience working with CADD software (MicroStation and AutoCAD), Microsoft Office and various databases.

Experience maintaining property records information within an automated environment as well as interpreting and reading legal survey plans and various cadastral survey documents.




You must also have:
Knowledge and understanding of all relevant Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations, statutes, standards and practices Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work with minimal supervision. Ability to perform manual and computerized mathematical calculations used in cadastral surveying. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans and records Ability to compile, maintain and store survey data and records. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, at all organizational levels. Ability to support the Toronto Public Service values to ensure a culture that champions equity, diversity and respectful workplaces. Advanced problem solving, project co-ordination skills and the ability to exercise independent judgement in dealing with technical matters
