Are you passionate about technology and eager to make a significant impact? Join our dynamic team as an Engineering Technologist, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and continuous improvement within the Rail Cars and Shops Department!
What You Will Do

• Creation, Revision, and Administration of technical documentation.
• Revenue vehicle maintenance and reliability, including data analysis and quality assurance activities.
• Assess complex electrical, electronic, mechanical pneumatic and air conditioning equipment installed on various vehicle modes
• Revenue vehicle equipment improvement or modification, including Project or SWIS activity.
• Facility equipment, tooling and process improvements; including procurement of same.
• Technical support including Fault diagnosis, Project supervision, technical assistance and training.
• Liaison with other TTC Departments and external suppliers/services.
• Developing, writing and maintaining accurate and concise Maintenance, Overhaul, Exchange, Test/Failure, Standard Operating Procedures, Technical Reports, Technical Bulletins and SWIS documents to meet departmental goals and objectives;
• Providing training to staff and union employees on all types of technical procedures;
• Conducting quality assurance activities to determine the effectiveness of inspection, repair and overhaul processes; auditing all types of maintenance procedures to assure conformance and consistency;
• Reviewing the relevance and effectiveness of the existing Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and TTC Maintenance Procedures;

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

• Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (Electrical /Electronic or Mechanical Engineering Technology) or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
• OACETT certification as an Engineering Technologist is considered an asset
• Registration with PEO (as E.I.T. or P. Eng.) is also considered as an asset
• Develop work methods, procedures, processes and policies for the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) group as dictated by best practices, internal style guides, and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance manuals
• The position will require a demonstration of the ability to diagnose and correct faults relating to electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems/components utilized on the Commission's rail vehicle fleet and associated maintenance equipment
• Excellent technical writing skills to prepare technical documents including maintenance, test/failure, exchange and standard operating procedures, and bulletins
• Specific knowledge in the areas of electrical power and control systems, AC/DC motors, and microprocessor based controls.
• Experience in developing and delivering effective and engaging in-house technical training programs
• Sound judgment which is supported by strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in the use of computers and applications, including MS Office
• The incumbents may be required to rotate into other Engineering Technologist positions at other locations within the Rail Cars and Shops Department, based on operational needs and training and development initiatives
