Secure Orbit Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technologist with strengths in both mechanical design and manufacturing support. This is a hands-on role where you will contribute directly to product development, technical documentation, and shop-floor execution. While much of your time will be spent in design and documentation, the role also includes active involvement on the shop floor, supporting manufacturing processes and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Support the design and development of new products by applying sound engineering principles and practical problem-solving.
Assist in managing projects through the development cycle, including coordinating supply chains, production processes, and inventory tracking.
Develop detailed 3D CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks.
Prepare professional documentation, including user manuals, troubleshooting guides, RFQs, technical reports, SOPs, and test procedures, using SolidWorks Composer and Microsoft Office tools.
Support manufacturing with CNC fixture design, setup, and operation, including time spent directly on the shop floor.
Contribute to static and dynamic analysis of mechanical systems to support design validation.
Assist in ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards (C22.1, UL325, ASTM F2200, and others as applicable).
Work closely with both engineering and shop-floor teams to resolve issues and ensure manufacturability.
Qualifications, Experience and Education:
2-4 years of Canadian industry experience.
Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience).
Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD and SolidWorks Composer.
Strong skills in technical writing and documentation.
Practical, hands-on mechanical experience -- you understand how mechanical systems work beyond theory and can apply that knowledge in a manufacturing environment.
Experience supporting manufacturing environments, ideally including CNC setup and fixturing.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
Legal authorization to work in Canada.
We offer a competitive salary, benefits package, and abundant opportunities for professional growth within our organization. If you are a dynamic and forward-thinking Engineering Technologist with a passion for innovation, we invite you to apply.
