The Opportunity

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC), a leader Canadian habitat conservation, is looking for a confident, energetic, and dedicated individual to join our team as an Engineering Technologist Coop Student.

As a member of the Saskatchewan Operations Team, you will assist with engineering design, drafting, surveying and construction of DUC\xe2\x80\x99s engineered wetland projects in Saskatchewan. Specific daily job duties may include:

  • Preparing cost estimates and proposals.
  • Assisting with tenders & small contracts.
  • Field topo surveys and construction (layout using GPS and laser levels).
  • Working closely with government and other regulatory bodies.
  • CAD drafting of construction plans and details.
  • Project site inspections and landowner meetings.
  • Assisting with construction supervision in the field, hydraulic design and modelling and overall project coordination.
You need to be an enthusiastic team player and an effective communicator with the ability to build positive working relationships with various DUC staff, landowners, and contractors.

Your knowledge and interest in engineering design, drafting, surveying, construction supervision and contract management make you the ideal candidate for this position, which is located in Regina or Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (other Saskatchewan DUC offices may also be considered.)

Requirements
  • Working towards a diploma in Civil, Environmental or Water Resources Engineering Technology from a recognized technical institute is required.
  • Knowledge of engineering design, hydrology modelling and construction is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office, CAD and air photo interpretation.
  • Experience with RTK GPS topographic surveying and industry standard GIS software is a definite asset.
  • Ability to work long/flexible hours outdoors in inclement weather and travel as required.
  • Comfortable working alone safely in remote rural areas.
  • Awareness of provincial Occupational Health and Safety practices; knowledge of the provincial Water Acts, Dam Safety Regulations and the approvals process would be considered an asset.
  • A valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • Experience with operating ATVs.
  • The successful candidate will be required to submit proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
