Your Opportunity

In this position as an Engineering Technologist, you will have the opportunity to work as part of our Stormwater Team of Engineers and Technologists on multiple civil engineering projects for a range of public and private sector clients in the City of Calgary and surrounding region. Your Key Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include figure development and drafting and design support to the stormwater team engineers for various local design projects using Civil3D and AutoCAD. This may include production of as-built / record drawings.

May provide support to the stormwater team by building stormwater models for analysis and design support. The candidate would have opportunities to learn stormwater management model building techniques for existing and proposed stormwater management systems.

Use knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks including design changes, site layouts, report figures, dimension control plans, redlining, plotting and drafting.

Know the City of Calgary drafting design standards.

Demonstrate knowledge of City of Calgary and Province of Alberta development and stormwater design standards.

Become familiar with Stantec CAD, stormwater management report, and stormwater model development standards.

Compile stormwater management reports for private site developments and/or new subdivisions.

Communicate with other team members & work collaboratively with members of the stormwater team and community development team.

Knowledge of GIS tools and GIS figure development is not necessarily required but would be considered an asset.

May perform field surveys for drawing development, site reviews, and record drawings.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Desire to learn about stormwater, subdivision and private site development, transportation, and other municipal projects.

Proficient with Civil3D Software and knowledge of City of Calgary CAD Standards.

Basic knowledge of software programs GIS & PCSWMM is an asset.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Collaborative and cooperative in working efficiently with a team.

Strong communication skills in a hybrid work environment is desired. Ability to use MS Teams, email, and other communication tools effectively to work with various team members is an asset.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Able to work under and meet tight deadlines. Adaptable and agile.

Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

Eligible for registration with or already registered as a member of ASET.

C.E.T. registration with ASET is an asset.

Education and Experience

Engineering Design & Drafting Technology degree/diploma/certificate or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience.
