Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

As an Engineering Technician, you'll play a key role in bringing new products to life and improving existing designs. You'll collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and production teams to ensure designs are accurate, manufacturable, and efficient.

Responsibilities:

Designing new products and revising existing designs. Creating 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. Preparing and maintaining accurate engineering documentation (BOMs, drawings, ECOs). Applying advanced detailing and drafting skills for complex components and assemblies. Coordinating projects, collaborating with suppliers, and supporting testing and validation activities. Working closely with manufacturing and production to ensure seamless handoff from design to build. Supporting research and development initiatives for new technologies and product improvements.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent). 3+ years of experience in design, analysis, and project support within custom equipment, heavy machinery, or metal fabrication. Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, especially Weldments, Sheet Metal, and large assemblies. Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA) and GD&T. Experience with ERP/MRP systems FEA knowledge is an asset. Strong analytical skills with a solid background in materials. Project management skills, including planning, organizing, and problem-solving. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
