Adecco is currently seeking an experienced Engineering Support Specialist to join our client's innovative team in Cambridge, ON. This temporary role offers $40/hour and provides a hands-on opportunity to work with cutting-edge opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems. You will contribute to both lab-based experiments and customer deliverable hardware, supporting engineering teams in developing and refining advanced technology solutions.

  • Pay rate: $40/hour.
  • Location: Cambridge, ON
  • Shifts: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Responsibilities:
  • Execute build and testing of opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems per drawings and procedural documentation
  • Setup and operate test equipment, monitoring, and measurement instruments
  • Operate optical measurement tools such as Zygo interferometers, lasers, optical power meters, and scientific cameras
  • Develop and contribute to automation scripting for lab equipment
  • Read harness drawings and execute wiring, soldering, and testing including safe-to-mate procedures and pinout verification
  • Collaborate with engineering disciplines to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Troubleshoot opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems using measurement and diagnostic tools
  • Conduct tests and experiments to evaluate materials, equipment, and processes
  • Draft procedures, record lab notes, and communicate proposed changes through sketches and markups
  • Improve existing fixtures, devices, methods, and processes
  • Provide technical support to the engineering team and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Technical diploma or degree in relevant field
  • 3+ years in lab-based optics and optical setups
  • Hands-on experience with opto-mechanical and opto-electrical systems
  • Knowledge of optical and electronic components and systems
  • Electrical harnessing and soldering skills; ability to develop and execute test scripts (Matlab/Python)
  • Problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Experience with fiber optics, lasers (Class 4), environmental/clean room testing, CAD, or SAP is an asset
  • Familiarity with lab equipment (optical power meters, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • CGP clearance required
