As a member of the Engineering team you will work on our programs such as CHORUS Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Satellite, Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope, Aeronautical Navigation products, and Marine Insights products. You will work as part of a technical team to develop new capabilities, enhance existing capabilities and deliver solutions to our customers.

As part of your growth and development we will work with you to establish your development actions alongside regular progress reviews. You are likely to move through various projects to gain the experience and knowledge to progress your career with us.

We\xe2\x80\x99re on the hunt for a Software Engineering Co-op \xe2\x80\x93 Satellite Ground Systems in our Geointelligence Engineering Team at our Richmond office.

We are looking for a variety of term lengths from 8 months minimum and up to 16 months starting in January 2024. Please indicate your availability when submitting your application and transcript.

Overall the successful candidate would be treated similar to a new graduate joining our company, where tasks will be assigned relative to the level of schooling and experience achieved to date.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Developing new features in our application stacks
• Developing scripts to automate testing
• Authoring integration test plans for features implemented by the development team
• Qualifying production components for delivery
• Participating in the assembly of applications and infrastructure into a complete system
• Configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting production environments
• Investigating software defects and supporting the software team in debugging, patch, test and release

The successful candidate will gain experience in a variety of areas such as:

• Golang, C++, Bash, Python, etc
• Docker, Kubernetes, MongoDb, Postgres, Kafka
• Software build and test tools
• Distributed Microservice Architecture

REQUIREMENTS

• Understanding of object oriented design and programming
• Experience with compiled languages such as Golang and C++
• Experience with scripting languages like Python and Bash
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux command line interfaces and tools
• Understanding of software version control systems
• Excellent problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills
• Team-friendly attitude and a willingness to learn and to contribute in all stages of the project life cycle
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
• An interest in working on complex systems that solve real-world problems

While not mandatory, candidates will benefit from any of the following:

• Prior experience in the deployment of applications using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
• Prior experience in the development of cloud-based applications
• Prior experience in the development of satellite ground segment software and systems
• Prior experience working with SAR, optical or other geospatial remote sensing data sources

EDUCATION:

Interested candidates should be working towards a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or post-graduate degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or other relevant discipline with three (3) years of undergraduate studies completed.
