Job Summary



The Engineering Manager reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for managing the day-to-day product development and sustainment activities of the Engineering Department. In this role the Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring that all the product development activities and Engineering support activities for Manufacturing and AMO are completed in a timely manner, and roadblocks are addressed efficiently. The manager also ensures that the Engineering Department follows IWG's established policies and procedures in addition to aerospace and customer procedures.

The manager is a team builder who guides and supports members of the Engineering Department involved with product development and sustainment in the development of their technical and soft skills to meet the expectations of the company and our customers.

Responsibilities



Based on the Director's guidance, supervise and coordinate department activities.

Based on the Director's requirements, work with Project Management team to prioritize engineering tasks and hold team accountable for completion of those tasks.

Support the evaluation and implementation of solutions to technical challenges experienced during product development and sustainment activities.

Manage the Problem Report and Engineering Change Request processes.

Manage Engineering's activities to support IWG's FRACAS and NCR programs.

Review and approve product designs and technical documentation.

Assist the Director with performance and risk monitoring.

Monitor department activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Assist the Director with Continuous Improvement activities.

Assist in developing technical concepts for new products.

Assist in evaluating new candidates for the engineering team.

Complete performance reviews of direct reports.

Train and mentor the engineering team.

Interface with customers and suppliers as required.

Occasional travel to support department activities.

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Engineering

Minimum Requirements



Engineering degree (aerospace, mechanical, electronics, mechatronics) preferred, other technology related degrees and/or significant related industry experience may be acceptable.

5-years experience in a Senior Engineering and/or management role preferred.

Demonstrated experience with electromechanical product development and sustainment.

Experience with the manufacture, certification and repair of aeronautical products preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English required.

Intermediate proficiency level with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams) required.

Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills required.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally without restrictions required.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams) required.

P.Eng qualification an asset

Experience with SolidWorks required, CATIA V5 and Altium is considered an asset.

Additional languages an asset

Abilities Required



The ability to work effectively in a busy office environment.

The ability to safely move around in workshop and production environments and occasionally operate hand tools.

The ability to occasionally lift objects up to 20Kg.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $120,000.00 per year
