The Role: Leading from the Front

We are looking for a

hands-on Engineering Manager

to lead a domain of high-performing engineers. In this role, you lead by example, amplifying the output of your team through architectural guidance, mentorship, and direct technical contribution.


You will oversee several workstreams (squads), acting as the technical anchor and primary unblocker. We are looking for builders at heart who have discovered a talent for multiplying the effectiveness of others.

What You Bring

Deep Technical Chops:

You have a background as a Senior or Staff Engineer. You can code comfortably in

Python

or

TypeScript

(or similar high-level languages like Go/Java) and possess the technical depth to identify complex logic errors and performance bottlenecks during code reviews.

Data-Aware Leadership:

You understand that modern apps live and die by their data. You are comfortable guiding teams that interact heavily with data platforms (

Databricks

experience is a plus) and understand the architectural trade-offs of data-intensive applications.

The "Unblocker" Mindset:

You measure your success by your team's velocity and stability. You navigate ambiguity and shield your team from organizational noise so they can focus on shipping.

Operational Maturity:

You understand that "Done" means running in production. You care about observability, DORA metrics, and building resilient systems that minimize on-call interruptions.

Experience Guide:

We prioritize your ability and leadership impact over the exact number of years on your resume. We typically see successful candidates with

5+ years

of technical experience, including time spent leading projects or teams.

Your Mission

Code & Architecture:

You will remain hands-on (targeting ~30-50% coding/review time). You won't be on the critical path for minor features, but you will tackle the hardest architectural problems, build proof-of-concepts, and set the standard for code quality.

Team Leadership:

You will manage the health, happiness, and growth of your engineers. You practice servant leadership--clearing obstacles rather than creating them.

Culture of Velocity:

You will drive the adoption of modern practices (CI/CD, Feature Flags, AI-assisted workflows) to ensure we ship value to customers daily, not quarterly.
