Tulmar designs, manufactures, and distributes engineered protective textiles, survivability and safety solutions for the Aerospace, Defence, and Public Security industries. Headquartered in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Tulmar operates a modern 60,000-square-foot facility with equipment ranging from computerized cutting tables, stitching machines R.F. (radio frequency) welding and heat sealing equipment to highly sophisticated testing and certification equipment including cold temperature test chambers, inertia reel testing equipment, and computerized measurement and test equipment for quality inspection. We are currently looking for an Engineering Intern for Winter 2024 to join a dynamic & close-knit team! Under the guidance of the VP of Engineering and Design, the Engineering Intern is responsible for a broad range of task and responsibilities shared by the Engineering team such as Design and Development Project, product validation, transfer to manufacturing, configuration management, documentation as well as Production support. The intern could be working with an Engineering specialist assisting them in different aspect of their job as well as working on specific assignment with the required support to complete the task on its own. All the work performed, and the documentation produced must be well structured and complete to comply to our Quality Management System driven by our aeronautical certification AS9100D. Duties & responsibilities:

  • Assisting Eng\xe2\x80\x99g specialist in different aspect of the Design and Development process such as: participating in the making of prototypes as well as testing & validation of Design.
  • Planning, carrying-out, and documenting validation tests (products, processes, materials etc).
  • Creating Engineering documentation (product / process / material specifications & drawings)
  • Preparing Manufacturing Engineering documentations (Bill of Material BOMs, work instructions, patterns)
  • Reading and understanding Engineering drawings in order support configuration management
  • Preparing 2D drawings in accordance with applicable drafting standards & Tulmar drafting practices.
  • Data entry in the ERP system as well as our Master Engineering files to support configuration management.
  • Analyse & Improve production cell for better Workflow, material movement, equipment efficiency, always improving Safety, Quality and Productivity.
What you need to succeed:
  • Looking for a college or University student enrolled in a coop program for a Mechanical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering college degree in their final year.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and willing to accept new challenges. Must pass a security check to satisfy Canadian Controlled Goods and US ITAR requirements.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles, CAD 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and project management is preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to troubleshoot and problem solve required. Strong organizational and communication skills needed.
  • Ability to read and create engineering documents and elaborate sub-level action plans.
