Plains is currently looking to fill the position of Engineering Intern to join our team for an 8-month term beginning May 6, 2024. The successful candidate will be exposed to a broad cross section of Engineering disciplines and assets (Processing facilities, Cavern storage, Truck and Rail Loading facilities, and Pipelines) within the Operations Engineering team at the Plains Fort Saskatchewan (PFS) location. Skills developed over this term will touch on the breadth of the roles typical of an Engineering group in a midstream company.

Responsibilities:

Develop an understanding of facility processes, work groups, and overall function of the Operations Engineering team;

Participate in developing solutions to technical issues and verifying the implementation of these solutions

Prepare and present summary reports, performance metrics reports, graphical representations, and presentations, as required

Facilitate initiatives to drive continuous improvement and optimizations of our processes

Evaluate the performance of process equipment (pumps, exchangers, heaters, etc.) by validating process conditions, performing calculations, modeling, and data analyses

Assist in the evaluation of the performance of production units

Apply engineering theory to determine solutions, considering impacts of risk and safety

As-building Engineering documentation including Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) by completing data gathering from the field and Control System.

Assist with Engineering Document Control processes by digitizing documents, project files, and uploading them to the Master Document Repository (Adept).

Complete and present an assigned project(s);

Attend internal/external meetings; and

Assist in various ad hoc requests as required in support of experienced engineers, facility operations/maintenance or corporate initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3rd year student enrolled in full-time studies in a post-secondary institution, working towards a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering \xe2\x80\x93 ideally Chemical or Mechanical;

Preference will be given to a student who will be returning to university to finish their undergraduate degree following the completion of this work term;

Both formal and non-formal co-op students are eligible to apply;

Previous work terms are considered an asset;

Ability to synthesize information to get to key aspects and provide supported conclusions/recommendations;

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment;

Must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;

Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills;

Proficiency with MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook;

Ability to read and redline P&IDs will be considered an asset;

\xc2\xb7Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work as a team player;

Interns must be able and willing to relocate themselves within 100KM of our Fort Saskatchewan facility for the entire duration of their work term;

Interns must be able to commit to an 8-month work term starting May 6, 2024 to be considered for the program;

Compliance with the Company\xe2\x80\x99s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.

The successful candidate must provide satisfactory references and complete a Criminal Background Check; and

Valid Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license with a clean driving abstract.
