This Engineering Design Manager Position Features:
$140-160,000 + annual bonus (anywhere from 2-5k paid out twice a year)
Days - 8am to 4:30pm (also flexible for 7:30am to 4pm)
OT after 40 hours

Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years experience as a mechanical designer
5+ years of leadership experience
Industry experience: automation & manufacturing required
P.Eng STRONGLY preferred
Advanced knowledge of SolidWorks
Post secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Design, and Drafting in CAD systems
Ability to create, set, train and manage design standards [develop SOPs]
Ability to mathematically explain designs to all levels of the organization
Skilled in MS office, including excel, outlook, work, teams, etc.
Skilled in problem solving, ability to think outside the box
Overview:
The Engineering manager is accountable for guiding, supporting, mentoring, and overseeing the mechanical design team in an all-encompassing way. They are responsible for facilitating their department's training and development, communication between departments throughout the design process, and holding their team accountable. Able to create, set, train, and manage department standards for the organization. Strong proven knowledge in the fundamental understanding of the engineering discipline with the ability to accurately and professionally explain how and why requirements are needed to ensure design success.
Job Duties:
Create, set, train, and manage the standard for the design department
Ensure design team follows all policies, missions, and values
Oversee projects and ensure team produces quality work while meeting deadlines
Communication between departments
Provide project updates to key personnel including Founder, CEO, Plant Manager, Project Mgrs, and production staff
Ability to mathematically explain why designs are required to be the way they are
Work with other departments as needed to troubleshoot or seek guidance during design process
Confident in being able to defend/stand up for department
Communicate with QC manager as needed
communicate with HR as needed
Training and development
Guide and train apprentices
Mentor current engineers to advance their knowledge and skills
Conduct employee reviews
conduct coaching/disciplinary actions as needed
Project Accountability
Attend kick off meetings and relay info gather to design team
Oversee design team is adhering to quality, budget, and timelines
Update key decision makers on progress
Facility department checks
Aid in troubleshooting until machine is finalized and sent to customer
Department enhancement
Research potential department improvement; involve innovation team as needed
Updated innovation team regarding issues and potential solutions
Implement and train design team in new technologies
Assist in hiring process
Forecast staffing needs, update HR
Screen resumes, conduct interviews
