With five mines, a mill, a smelter, a refinery and nearly 4,000 employees it is also one of the largest integrated mining complexes in the world.The Ontario Surface Projects & Shut Down Delivery team manages asset integrity projects focusing on mechanical, electrical, piping work. In addition we also perform geotechnical, earth works, soil remediation tailings and power dam projects.The OpportunityWe are currently seeking 3 Engineering Student to join our Smelter Clarabelle Team, Power/Transportation Team, CCNR/Environment Team respectively. This is a fixed-term position for a duration of 4-8 months, beginning in May 2024.The successful candidate will work from any one of our Ontario Operations Sites, alongside Engineers, Management, and other personnel in the organization, to assist with a wide variety of tasks related to technical and engineering support related to project planning and execution.In this role, you will support the project team with the following:

  • Development of project plans (FEL studies)
  • Development of detailed engineering, project estimating and scheduling
  • Request for Information process during the Request for Proposal process and during contract execution
  • Contract/project closeout process where final drawings and documentation are saved and handed over to the asset owner
  • Other project work as required
About YouEducation:
  • Currently enrolled and in good standing in a Civil/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering to join our Smelter Clarabelle Team.
  • Electrical Engineering to join our Power/Transportation Team.
  • Civil/Electrical/Mechanical/Geotechnical Engineering to join our CCNR/Environment Team.
Experience:
  • Experience in an industrial environment would be considered an asset.
Skills:
  • Follow Vale\xe2\x80\x99s Safety Policies, Programs and Legislative Standards.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be obsessed with safety and risk.
  • Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.
  • Develop skills and abilities related to the provision of engineering to Ontario Operations.
  • Ensure compliance to the applicable regulations, standards, and guidelines.
  • Maintain a high level of professional conduct.
  • Complete assigned projects safely and on time. Project work may include engineering document scanning, engineering standard editing, data analysis and reporting.
