Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.The RoleThe process engineer role is a key position within the McArthur River process department, reporting directly into the manager, process and plant operations. In this role, you will provide critical technical expertise to mine dewatering and slurry handling infrastructure design and operation, develop operational guidelines, and manage the underground water balance, all while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This dynamic position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a collaborative mindset to achieve operational excellence.In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the performance of the underground dewatering system (pumps, pipelines, sumps, piping infrastructure).
  • Develop and implement designs of underground water and slurry pipeline systems into new mining areas.
  • Develop water balance and design criteria to support future underground water and solids handling projects.
  • Work closely with the process operations team to provide consistent guidance, foster innovation, and recommend improvements to enhance dewatering system performance.
  • Analyze dewatering performance data and implement actions to restore performance (pipeline descaling, pump improvements, etc).
  • Assist in operational guidance and troubleshooting of underground brine distribution system for artificial ground freezing.
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical, or mineral process engineering
  • A minimum of four years of work experience with at least three years being in an industrial setting
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience considered
  • Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
  • Proficient and effective communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • An unwavering focus on safety
  • Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft
Recommended:
  • Experience with PI Asset Framework & PI Vision
  • Experience in pipeline design and hydraulic calculations
  • Proficiency in mass and water balances
  • Background in managing small projects
  • Skilled in time series data analysis and interpretation

Salary Range: $107,000 - $134,000Safety Sensitive SitePreference will be given to Residents of Saskatchewan's North (RSN).The McArthur River operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.The physical and psychological safety of our employee's is a top priority at Cameco.
