The Role

As a member of the technical services team, reporting to Sr. Engineer, mechanical, you will provide mechanical engineering and technical solutions for mining, milling, process control problems and provide design support for smaller capital and expense projects.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform various mechanical engineering and design tasks, major equipment sizing, HVAC system analysis and sizing, building services, plumbing, industrial process piping design, development of technical specifications, data sheets, drawings, and technical reports.
  • Experience in working with mechanical technologists in developing intelligent 3D process plant equipment and piping layout designs, intelligent P&IDs and HVAC schematics.
  • Be responsible for mechanical scope development, engineering execution planning, and capital cost estimating to support business cases over the asset life cycle.
  • Ensuring that the design work is completed in accordance with Cameco\'s processes, procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • You will also be responsible for developing and integrating mechanical design standards for Cameco and mentoring other mechanical engineers and technologists.
  • Occasional travel to Cameco production facilities shall be required.
Required:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 4-8 years of relevant industry experience. Equivalent combination of education and work experience will also be considered.
Recommended:
  • Knowledge of HVAC system design, industrial (underground mining and mill) ventilation, dust collection systems, ASHRAE, ACGIH, ASME, National Building Code, National Fire Code, National Plumbing Code and CSA codes.
  • Knowledge of building heating, cooling and ventilation analysis and simulation softwares, and piping hydraulic system simulation and network analysis softwares would be an asset.
  • Experience in HVAC equipment controls and system automation, and exposure to industrial plant process piping, stationary and rotating equipment design would be an asset.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills
