The Microchip Timing and Synchronization Software Development Team is responsible for creating state of art timing embedded software for our world class Microchip network synchronization products. Today, we\'re aggressively developing new timing technologies; including Ultra Low Jitter PLLs IEEE1588 and Synchronous Ethernet PLLs that solve optical, electrical and packet network synchronization problems. We provide total system solutions for applications like 5G, autonomous cars, stock market, wireless, cable industry as well as IoT. To support global demand and emerging standards, the business unit is expanding its road map using embedded artificial intelligence solutions.


Reporting to the Network Sync Software NSS Manager, you will be part of the Ottawa, ON team where you will be required to execute a complete embedded software development lifecycle.

Key job responsibilities/duties include:

  • Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment
  • Design, develop, code, test and debug system software
  • Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources
  • Integrate and validate new product designs
  • Support software QA and optimize I/O performance
  • Provide post production support
  • Interface with hardware design and development
  • Assess third party and open source software
  • Work with system architect and marketing team to define software API requirements.
  • Real-time lab reference design testing of developed and existing software solutions.


Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications and Experience
  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Software/Computer engineering.
  • 0-2 years related practical experience in API software development.
  • Experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems. Preferably Linux.
  • Strong programming skills in C and Python.
  • Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
  • Excellent knowledge of OS coding techniques, IP protocols, interfaces and hardware subsystems
  • Hands on experience with scripting languages such as TCL, Python, Perl, Bash etc.



Competencies
  • Adequate knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills and comfortable with operating lab equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with architecture, validation, manufacturing, and other discipline.
