POSITION SUMMARY
The Engineer, Grid Modernization supports Milton Hydro's vision of a modern, resilient, and customer-centric utility. This role is responsible for planning, modeling, and analysis of the distribution system across operational horizons.
The incumbent will Execute grid modernization initiatives and supports strategic projects.
KEY DUTIES
Conduct power system planning and reliability analysis.
Coordinate protection, control, and communication systems.
Maintain and troubleshoot SCADA, OMS, and engineering software.
Support DER integration, automation devices, and cybersecurity.
Prepare load forecasts and reliability reports.
Assist in developing and maintaining the Distribution System Master Plan.
Assist with inspections, maintenance, and capital planning.
Support the full life cycle of distribution automation devices (i.e., automated switches, reclosers, fault indicators, etc.).
Champion the latest developments in distribution system such as smart grid, microgrid, electrical vehicle charging, power system communications, SCADA, ADMS etc.
Assists the Engineering, Operation and Metering departments with other duties, as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
Eng. designation or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario
3+ years in distribution sector, grid planning, and modernization preferred.
Experience in Load Flow and protection systems
Experience in SCADA an asset
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
