Job Description

R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) is currently seeking an Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience to join our Electrical team of dedicated professionals.



The Electrical group at Burnside undertakes work for a variety of clients in the private, public, Aboriginal, and golf sectors. Our group applications include designs for commercial and light industrial buildings (power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications), street & site lighting, subdivisions, transportation hubs, healthcare facilities, pumping stations and electric vehicle charging stations.


What You'll Be Doing





In this role, you will take ownership of a wide variety of design and engineering tasks, including:


Prepare designs for power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems for municipal, commercial and industrial buildings. Design street lighting (including photometrics), subdivision electrical design, site electrical design, hydro coordination and emergency power design. Writing technical specifications, reports, and proposals. Coordinate designs and deliverables with project managers and project stakeholders. Train junior engineers and technicians. Performing building condition assessments and peer reviews. Attending and lead client meetings to determine project scope and deliverables. Conducting site visits to monitor progress and gather as-built data.

What You Bring





We're looking for someone who is technically strong, highly organized, and enthusiastic about making a difference. You'll have:


A P.Eng. license in Ontario. Solid knowledge of the current Electrical Safety Codes (CEC and OESC) and National and Ontario Building codes. Solid project management skills with the ability to manage schedules, budgets and priorities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. High degree of problem solving and decision-making skills.
