SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Engineer, Distribution Engineering provides engineering services to support the planning, design, installation, modification and operation of distribution facilities to accommodate the expansion, maintenance and integrity of the distribution system. This includes the provision of technical services for engineering activities or project requirements, ensuring sound application of engineering and industry practices, technological advancements, and identification and recommendation of effective business solutions to support departmental and Corporate objectives.
Position Details
Non-Union - This position is a permanent full time non-union role.
Key Accountabilities
Prepare, review and approve detailed designs and associated cost estimates for assigned projects to accommodate new customer acquisition and load growth, system improvement and expansion for the distribution system in accordance with approved engineering practices, procedures and standards.
Provide system and project design optimization using hydraulic analysis and engineering assessments for distribution facilities such as pipelines and regulating stations.
Provide project leadership, coordination and administration for assigned projects and initiatives to ensure quality, schedule and budget requirements are met.
Oversee assigned projects providing technical support and guidance during the construction and commissioning phases to ensure projects comply with specifications and standards.
Participate in the planning functions, lead monitoring and system analysis processes and identify recommendations to optimize distribution systems and facilities ensuring plans incorporate immediate and future requirements.
Provide system analysis, outage plans and coordination to mitigate distribution system outages.
Provide technical support to internal groups relative to facility design, cost estimating procedures, code or standard practices and system capacity by applying engineering principles in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of technical problems.
Maintain an awareness of industry, new technology and products to participate in the evaluation and enhancement of Distribution Engineering procedures, processes and standard practices.
Prepare and deliver training relative to distribution engineering processes, procedures, and standard practices.
Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Environmental, Industrial or Petroleum preferred).
Professional Engineer Designation and registered to practice in Saskatchewan.
Five (5) years of progressive engineering experience.
Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.
Must have a continuing record of professional development and continuous learning.
An Engineer-in-training may also be considered as a path to advance to a Professional Engineer.
A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
Additional Information
Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters may be required.
A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
